On October 31st in Stockholm, The Nordic Prestigious Restaurant White Guide ceremony took place. This year – for the first time the Baltic States were included.
Just two weeks before that, you’ll no doubt know, something else took place in Stockholm.
If you don’t remember what, “the answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind, the answer is blowin’ in the wind”.
Yes, the Nobel Prize for Literature was awarded. I’m happy they gave it to Bob Dylan because I can actually quote him! Not bad considering most of the books on my shelves are cook books.
But back to the White Guide. It is the Nordic equivalent to the Michelin. Vincents was the only restaurant from Latvia to be included at the ‘Global Masters Level’ and, I am very, very happy indeed and honoured, that this award was bestowed on us.
2016 has been a very good year (as our sommelier would say) for Vincents Restaurant! First, we won 1st place, again, for Latvia’s best restaurant, and then Raimonds became (to us) the 7th wonder of the world for taking 7th position in the world’s sommelier competition held in Argentina. Now, the cherry on top of the cake (not quite Dylan), Vincents 1st place as the best restaurant in the Baltic states. Everyone is congratulating me, but it’s not all me. I have truly the best team with Raimonds and Aleksanders doing so much of the leg work.
Work and service is how we did it and that is the recipe we will endeavour to replicate each and every day.
I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has walked through our doors to dine and wine with us. I’m l Looking forward to seeing you all again -“Don’t think twice, it’s all right” - and to thank you personally for your patronage that lends to our atmosphere.
